PURPOSE: To omit the labour for printing-out end mark onto a roll paper by permitting the position detecting sensors of two back tension rollers to operate and inform end of the roll paper, when the roll paper comes to an end.

CONSTITUTION: The position of a back tension roller 3 is detected by a roll paper drawing-out roller 2, an arm 67 which contacts with the outer periphery of a roll paper 1 and moves, following the variation of the diameter of the roll paper, and two sensors S1 and S2 which are installed integrally with the arm 7. When the recording paper from the roll paper 1 comes to a near end, a roll paper end indicating projection 13A and a sensor S1 for stopping recording paper drawing-out, and a roll paper end indicating projection 13B and a sensor S2 for starting recording paper drawing-out are brought into contact at a same time, and roll paper end indicating signal is generated, and driving of the apparatus is brought into stop. Thus, the need to equip a roll paper end indicating mechanism separately is obviated, and printing-out of end mark can be omitted.
