PURPOSE: To improve the shape of a metal sheet and to improve the productivity by reduction of the number of rolling paths by providing an initial roll curve to be determined by a factor concluded by a sequential optimization method by use of an integrated evaluation function.
CONSTITUTION: On upper and lower work rolls, (a) width dependency of crown changing capability, (b) force rotating a roll in the horizontal plane, that is, skew force, and (c) a evaluation function indicating various characteristics of a face pressure between rolls determined by a roll curve are found as functions of a factor of an equation expressing the roll curve. In the case that those functions are shown by F1(Ai), F2(Ai), and F3(Ai) and weight factors for every evaluation are provisionally denoted by K1, K2, and K3, an initial crown, obtained by determination of a factor of a roll curve maximizing an integrated evaluation function F(Ai) defined by F(Ai)=K1/F1(Ai)+K2/F2(Ai)+K3/ F3(Ai) by use of a down-hill method, is provided.
