PURPOSE: To select the length of a wire rod to be cut to various values, by fitting rotors at an end of one shaft of an elliptic gear and at an end of the other shaft parallel to said one shaft, said rotors permitting a fixing position of a cutting tool to be changed.
CONSTITUTION: Rotors 5 and 6 are designed to carry out an ununiform rotary motion such that an angular velocity periodically varies at the rate of 2 cycles per one rotation. If cutters (not shown) are attached at fixing positions A1, A3 and A2, A4, and a wire rod R is fed at a feed speed in concert with a circumferential speed of the positions A1, A3 and A2, A4, the wire rod R may be cut to the shortest length. On the other hand, if the cutters are attached at fixing positions D1, D3 and D2, D4, and the wire rod R is fed at a feed speed in concert with a circumferential speed of the positions D1, D3 and D2, D4, the wire rod R may be cut to the greatest length.
