Title:
RUNNING PATH RECOGNIZING SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3229687
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To allow easy and accurate recognition of curved path even for a relatively remote running path when the shape of running path is recognized based on output signals from means for imaging the pavement in front of a vehicle.
CONSTITUTION: A video camera comprises a solid image pick up section 12A onto which a first pavement image is projected through a low magnification optical system 13A, and a solid image pick up section 12B onto which a second pavement image, corresponding to a remote part of the first pavement image, is projected through a high magnification optical system l3B. A curved path or transition thereto is recognized by detecting the difference between the presence mode of a part corresponding to a white line display image in the first pavement image projected onto the section 12A and the presence mode of a part corresponding to a white line display image in the second pavement image projected onto the section 12B.
