Concerning this telephone directory change method, a person, who changes the telephone number, calls the selective call receiver having the telephone directory, on which his own telephone number is registered, and sends a code showing the change of the telephone number, a former telephone number and a new telephone number as message information, the selective call receiver, which receives the information, retrieves the former telephone number in the telephone directory inside a storage part 14 and when there is such a telephone number, it is changed to the new telephone number.
