Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor device used as a wavelength variable light source, capable of improving a degree of freedom of arranging a photodiode.SOLUTION: A semiconductor device 100 comprises: a substrate 10 including a front end face 34, a rear end face 36 and a side face 32 arranged on both of the front end face and the rear end face; a plurality of semiconductor lasers 12 provided on the substrate; a forward optical multiplexer 16 provided on the substrate, multiplexing forward output light of the plurality of semiconductor lasers, and outputting the light to the front end face; a backward optical multiplexer 24 provided on the substrate, multiplexing backward output light of the plurality of semiconductor lasers, and outputting the light to the rear end face; and a plurality of backward waveguides 29 provided on the substrate, and connected to an output part of the backward optical multiplexer. The plurality of backward waveguides includes: a main waveguide 28 arranged on a center part of the output part; and a plurality of side waveguides 30 arranged on both sides of the main waveguide, curved toward the side face, and outputting light obliquely from the side face to the side face.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
