Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the performance and reliability of a fuel cell by enhancing the gas sealing property and productivity of a separator constituting a cell part of the fuel cell.
SOLUTION: This separator for fuel cells is equipped with a plurality of ribs and a carbonized layer. The ribs are provided by forming a plurality of slit-like grooves in one surface, and parallel to its one side, of a rectangular flat plate made of porous carbon material. The carbonized layer is made by impregnating the other surface of the flat plate with a mixture of a thermosetting resin and a carbon powder and carbonizing it. The thermosetting resin consists of a composition made by combining an aromatic cross-linker and an acid catalyst.
