To smoothly conduct the feeding work of a rod-like material and to continuously implement the shearing work by forming clearance grooves along the plane perpendicular to the moving direction of a moving edge on the inner wall face of the insertion hole, through which the red-like material is inserted, of the cylindrical moving edge movable in the direction perpendicular to a fixed edge.
A feeding device 26 is driven to feed a material W forward, and the material W is inserted into insertion holes 28, 52 in sequence for the cutting work of a rod-like material W. The feeding action is stopped when the tip of the material W is brought into contact with a stopper 62 and a sensor 70 detects that the stopper 62 is retreated. A press machine is driven to lower a ram 42, and the material W is sheared along the boundary face between a moving edge 48 and a fixed edge 18. A pair of clearance grooves 60a, 60b are formed along the face perpendicular to the moving direction of the moving edge 48 on the insertion hole 52 of the moving edge 48, the laterally expanding deformation of the shearing face of the material W occurring during the shearing work is allowed, and the material W can be smoothly fed thereafter.
