PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to correctly and easily assemble a sensor member for detection of a sheet size to a pinion gear.SOLUTION: A sheet feeder is equipped with a holding member 60 which holds a pinion gear 50 and is detachable from a sheet storage part. In the state that the holding member 60 is mounted on the sheet storage part, the pinion gear 50 and a rack member are engaged with each other. The holding member 60 so holds the pinion gear 50 as to be capable of changing in position between a first position at which a reception part 54 of a flange part 52 is engaged with a boss 623 of an engaging component 62 so that rotation of the pinion gear 50 is regulated, and a second position at which the aforesaid engagement is released so that the pinion gear 50 becomes rotatable. The pinion gear 50 is positioned at the first position in the state that the holding member 60 is detached from the sheet storage part, and is position at the second position in the state that the holding member is mounted on the sheet storage part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
