PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of penetration of molten metal between a belt and a block by executing wear resistant coating on face of the short side block containing with the endless belt.
CONSTITUTION: In a belt type continuous casting machine for steel, on the surface of Cu or Cu alloy of the short side block 2 contacting with the steel- made endless belt 1, the wear resistant coating 8 of Cr, Ni or ceramic, etc., is formed. By this constitution, the development of flaw and wear of the surface of Cu or Cu alloy of the short side block 2 contacting with the endless belt 1 is prevented. Therefore, gap between the belt 1 and the short side block 2 is held to small even at the time of operating over the long time and the occurrence of the penetration of molten metal is effectively prevented.
