PURPOSE: To place a carriage in a constant speed immediately after it is inverted and to expand printable width by a method wherein the home position in a simple printer is installed slightly right from the left end to which the carriage can move and the carriage is run preparatively in advance of printing.
CONSTITUTION: When a screw shaft 1 turns by the drive of a motor, the carriage 2 at the home position A moves left first and begins to run preparatively in order to obtain a constant speed. When the carriage 2 reaches the left end, begins to move from left to right and the 2nd permanent magnet 4 crosses the front of a detector 5 from left to right, pulse P1 is detected and printing starts at that rise. At this time, the motor has passed through the preporative running time of period and is in the constant speed. When the carriage 2 reaches the right end, printig ends and the carriage 2 is inverted and returns. The motor stops by pulse P3 given when the 1st permanent magnet 3 crosses the front of the detector 5 from right to left.
