PURPOSE: To widen the applications of recording media by allowing the decision on the printing conditions of original pictures to coexist on one recording medium without erasing the auxiliary information based on human judgement.

CONSTITUTION: A film F notched by a prelead notcher PN and a medium T1 having undergone primary recording of auxiliary information are passed through an automatic analyzer AR. The AR analyzes image planes, and records the decision on the printing conditions of the original pictures on the medium T1. At this time, the 1st recording information is recorded in other space without breaking the same. The recording medium T12 containing two sets of the information is passed together with the film F through an automatic printer AP, whereby they are subjected to printing treatment. According to this constitution, a trouble is investigated by trac ing back to the origin because the two records coexist, in spite of occurence of such a trouble, and in the post stage of the printing process, printing cut and slip treat ment are accomplished by selectively utilizing the two records.
