PURPOSE: To simplify the structure of a tester by providing a screw jack which reduces the rotation of a driving shaft that is attached to a force applying point and imparts a small displacement to the force applying point, and providing an elastic member which is inserted into a load cell and a test piece in series.
CONSTITUTION: A test piece 7 is set through bending jigs 6. Thereafter, a screw jack 3 is lowered, and an initial load is applied on the test piece 7. The fact that the specified load is reached is confirmed with a load cell 4, and the jack 3 is stopped. Under this state, the load and the strain of the test piece 7 are measured at the specified time on the next day. Then, the jack 3 is lowered. On the second day, the specified load is adjusted, and the load and the strain of the test piece 7 are measured. This work is performed every day and repeated until the test piece 7 is broken. For example, a rubber spring 5 is deformed by 6mm with a 5-t load. To apply the 5-t load on the test piece 7, 180 rotations are required for the driving shaft of the jack 3. This is based on the 10-mm movement of a screw shaft caused by the 60 rotations of the driving shaft of the jack 3, and the relationship of a lever ratio of 5. Therefore, it is recommended to drive the shaft twice per day in order to apply the 5-t load for 90 days.
