Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the subject catalyst component having a high activity and giving highly stereospecific polymers by bringing a solid component containing Ti, Mg, halogen and an electron donor into contact with an electron donor, either of the electron donors being a compound having ether bonds through plural atoms. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene and/or alpha-olefin are polymerized in the presence of a catalyst comprising (A) a solid titanium catalyst component, (B) an organic metal compound catalyst component containing a metal selected from the periodic table group I-III metals and, if necessary, (C) an electron donor having two or more of the same ether bonds as those of the component A to provide an olefinic polymer, the solid titanium catalyst component being formed by bringing (i) a solid titanium component containing titanium, magnesium, halogen and an electron donor into contact with (ii) an electron donor, either of the electron donors in the components (i) and (ii) having two or more ether bonds through plural atoms.
