Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherically zonal seal body that is used in a spherical pipe joint for an automobile exhaust pipe because of its sufficient functions at higher temperature as a seal body, including its less oxidation wear, no abnormal frictional sounds caused thereby, and its improved sealing performance, and a manufacturing method for that seal body.
SOLUTION: A spherically zonal seal body 55 has a cylindrical inner surface 52 at the center, which defines a through hole 51, a partially projected spherical outer surface 53, and a circular end surface 54 at the larger-diameter side of the outer surface 53. The seal body 55 involves, in the inside from the inner surface 52 over to the outer surface 53, a heatproof sheet member totally coated with a heatproof coating, and a reinforcement member 9 made of wire gauze, both which members are compressed and entangled together into an integral structure. The outer surface 53 has thereon an exposed outer layer 56 made of a heatproof coating, which layer is provided with the reinforcement member 9. The outer surface 53 is smoothed where the outer layer 56 and the reinforcement member 9 integrally entangled in the layer 56 are exposed outside.
