PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively stabilize a hydroxyl-bearing vinyl compound by using an acetalized alkyl(α-hydroxyalkyl) acrylate as a stabilizer.
SOLUTION: This stabilizer is used for (A) a compound of formula I [R3 is H or an organic residue; X is CN, a group of the formula COR4 (R4 is the same as R3) or group of the formula COOR4], and is (B) a compound of formula II [R1 is a 1-18C (branches) alkyl, 4-6C cycloalkyl or 6-8C alyl; R2 is H or the same as R1; (n) is 1-5]. The compound A pref. contains this stabilizer at 0.05-4wt.% when the compound A is to be handled or reacted. In this way, formation of undesirable oligomers or polymeric compounds can be avoided, enabling stable handling of the compound A, and desired compound(s) can be produced in high yield from the compound A thus stabilized.
