PURPOSE: To ensure a good sealing characteristic over a long period by causing an inner cylinder having stationary blades to be axially movably supported within an outer cylinder by a plurality of support members, and making it possible to compensate for the amount of axial movement of a rotor.
CONSTITUTION: The low pressure part 30 of a steam turbine in a nuclear power plant has an outer cylinder 32 and an inner cylinder 34, and a rotor 36 having a plurality of rotary blades 38 arranged in a line is freely rotationally supported within the outer cylinder 32. The inner cylinder 34 is provided with a plurality of stationary blades (not shown in Fig.) arranged in a line. In this case, while the stationary blades of the inner cylinder 34 and the rotary blades 38 of the rotor 36 are placed in predetermined relative axial positions, the plurality of movable plates 46, 48, 50, 52 of the inner cylinder 34 are axially movably supported within the outer cylinder 32. In order to ensure displacement of the rotor 36 due to heat, the inner cylinder 34 can be driven by hydraulic motors 54, 56.
