Abstract:
PURPOSE:To extract distance information secured optimality as a whole even with respect to a picture defect in a characteristic point such as an edge by providing a means for calculating a difference of the quantity of a picture element characteristic between the picture data of corresponding lines in two pictures. CONSTITUTION:The picture data from two different visual points inputted from a picture input devices 1, 2 is temporarily stored in picture buffers 3, 4 every one line. The corresponding picture line data is successively read by giving a picture element position deviation by an address calculator 5 and converted into a difference by a difference calculating part 6. The obtained picture difference is stored in a table 7 as a substitute cost. A distance calculator 14 reversely searches a route in a stage when a minimum cost route table 13 is completed, makes corresponding functions between the two picture lines y(S), x(S), obtains a parallax to output as the distance information of the respective picture elements by a trigonometrical survey arithmetic.
