Abstract:
PURPOSE: To protectively enclose a product in a sterile environment by a method wherein a recess is formed in the walls of a vessel to fix the surfaces of the product to position the product within the vessel and protrusions are provided in the recess to form a passage for circulating a sterilizing fluid around the product.
CONSTITUTION: A recess 40 is a circular recessed portion extending annularly along side surfaces 14 and a bottom wall 18, and the diameter of the internal surface of the recess substantially conforms to the diameter of a cylindrical body 26 of a bottle 24 or the curvature thereof. A recess 42 has a shape complementary to that of a neck 28 of the bottle 24 so that the neck 28 contacts the internal curved surface of a vessel 12 to prevent the neck 28 from axially moving in the a vessel 12 toward an end wall opposed to a head portion or the neck 28 of the bottle 24. Protrusions 60 are attached to an inwardly directed surface so as to extend across each of the recesses 40, 42 to form tubular passages 62. The passages 62 extend transversely the width direction of the recesses 40, 42 to allow a sterilizing gas or medium to circulate within a packaging 10, and at the same time, the contact area between the bottle 24 and the surface of the vessel 12 for supporting the bottle 24 is reduced.
