PURPOSE: To provide a still image display device and its controlling method capable of easily and quickly retrieving an image to be transmitted, reducing an operation miss at the time of selecting the transmitting image so as to accurately select the transmitting image and improving the efficiency of image transmitting work.

CONSTITUTION: A main control part 10' extends plural compressed image data stored in an IC memory card 50 in a low resolution state based upon a display instruction and outputs the extended data to a VRAM 60 for an image display part so that images at least more than one are displayed on a screen, a liquid crystal display device 40 provided with a touch panel 43 displays the images based upon picture data stored in the VRAM 60, and when an image part to be transmitted on the screen of the device 40 displaying image more than one at least is depressed at the time of transmitting the image, the main control part 10' selects an image corresponding to the touched coordinates of the depressed part.
