PURPOSE: To eliminate the needs of the pump for a cooling tower by providing a change over valve at the middle of the water pipe to a water head and enabling the combined use for the cooling tower and the header in the device which cools a heated lief by distributing water after storing in a head tank temporarily.
CONSTITUTION: The cooling water cooled at the cooling tower 12 is stored temporarily at the cooling water head tank 4 after passing through a cooling water pit 1, and a heated lief 9 is cooled through a water pouring header 6. In the device, the branches 17, 18 which are installed from the middle of the water pipe connecting the pit 1 and the tank 4 to the cooling tower 12 is installed through change-over valves 22, 23. Also, a controller 16 is installed, and the change-over valves 22, 23 are operated according to the water level signal of the tank 4, and the tank 4 is maintained at a prescribed water level.
