Title:
SURFACE COATED CUTTING TOOL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2010137315
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a surface coated cutting tool having a film which reduces a crater abrasion under a high speed cutting condition and gives a high abrasion resistance.

The surface coated cutting tool includes a base material and the film formed on the base material. The film is made of one layer or two or more layers. At least one layer of the film is a hard film layer including at least Ti and Zr. The hard film layer has a composition structure in which a content of Ti and Zr changes along the direction of thickness of the hard film layer. This change includes a maximum point of Ti content at which the content of Ti is maximum and a maximum point of Zr content at which the content of Zr is maximum. The maximum point of Ti content and the maximum point of Zr content are repeatedly present. The content ratio of Ti, that is, Ti/(Ti+Zr) in the maximum point of Ti content satisfies the relation of 0.9999≤Ti/(Ti+Zr)≤1 in atomic ratio. The content ratio of Zr, that is, Zr/(Ti+Zr) in the maximum point of Zr content satisfies the relation of 0.001≤Zr/(Ti+Zr)≤0.2 in atomic ratio.
