To provide a water absorptive polymer particle with a hydrophobic surface, which is a water absorptive polymer particle having a hydrophobic polymer coating film on its surface even during compounding of various medicines for prescription, and capable of giving a dry feeling during use even after water absorption, and a method of manufacturing it.
This manufacturing method of the water absorptive polymer particle with hydrophobic surface comprises a polymerization of a hydrophobic vinyl monomer in the presence of a water absorptive polymer particle with a hydrophobic surface, which is prepared by coating the surface of a water absorptive polymer particle with a polymer of a hydrophobic vinyl monomer, and a water absorptive polymer particle, an oil-soluble polymerization initiator and a dispersant, and another method comprises a reserve phase suspension polymerization of a hydrophilic vinyl monomer in the presence of a water-soluble polymerization initiator and a dispersant, and during or after the polymerization, addition of a hydrophobic vinyl monomer and an oil-soluble polymerization initiator for polymerization, and a cosmetic containing the water absorptive polymer particle with a hydrophobic surface is manufactured.
