Abstract:
To simply treating a plastic article, such as a pipe, so as to increase high impermeability to a certain component present in a fuel, by a sulfonation step and a specific neutralization step.
The method comprises one or more sulfonation steps and one or more neutralization steps wherein the one ore more neutralization steps are carried out by bringing an article (preferably, a hollow body, particularly, a fuel tank or the like) substantially composed of a plastic (preferably, high density polyethylene) and having one or more surfaces into contact with one or more polyamine compounds (preferably alkylene polyamine or polyalkyleneimine, particularly, polyethyleneimine) to surface-treat at least part of the article.
