To restrain degradation in the visibility of a vehicular front while permitting a suspension characteristic including rolling rigidity to be adjusted.
The suspension device is equipped with a shock absorber 3 comprising a strut external cylinder 11 connected to an axle under a spring, a piston rod 14 which is connected to a vehicle body 12 above the spring and inserted into the strut external cylinder 11 so as to be able to reciprocate, and a bump stopper 16 which abuts against the strut external cylinder 11 to lock a stroke in a compressing direction when the strut external cylinder 11 and the piston rod 14 stroke in the compressing direction. An abutting plate 17 that can advance and retreat in an abutting direction is interposed between the strut external cylinder 11 and the bump stopper 16. At the periphery of the strut external cylinder 11, there is provided an advancing/retreating mechanism 18 which advances and retreats the abutting plate 17.
