PURPOSE: To carry out the fine control according to a road surface condition so as to improve the riding comfortableness by detecting the wheel stroke quantity of a wheel by means of strain gauges, and performing fuzzy inference for the damping force of the wheel based on the degrees of the wheel stroke quantity and variation against the maximum values set according to a running condition.
CONSTITUTION: This control device is provided with strain gauges 15, 18 for detecting the wheel stroke quantities (hn) of front/rear wheels 2, 3, and variation per unit time (Δhn) of the wheel stroke quantity (hn) is computed by a computer 24. The maximum values (hmax), (Δhmax) of (hn), (Δhn) are set according to the road surface condition by a maximum value setting part 36, and the degrees of quantity of (hn), (Δhn) are computed by a computing part 37. Next, fuzzy inference of the damping force of shock absorbers 4, 5 are performed by a damping force inference part 23 based on the computed degrees of quantities, following to a fuzxzy rule, and a step motor 27 for adjusting damping force is controlled to be driven through a driver 26 following to the inference result of the inference part 23.
