Abstract:
PURPOSE:To stabilize a polymn. system and to prepare a polymer of high purity, by carrying out suspension polymn. of a vinyl monomer by using a dispersion stabilizer consisting of a specified water-soluble polymer and a di- or tri-valent cation-contg. electrolyte and adjusting the amt. of water. CONSTITUTION:Suspension polymn. of 100 pts.wt. vinyl monomer is carried out by using a dispersion stabilizer consisting of 0.005-5 pts.wt. water-soluble polymer (A) obtd. by polymerizing 100-40wt.% salt of (meth)acrylic acid and 0-60wt.% 1-12C alkyl (meth)acrylate and/or water-soluble polymer (B) obtd. by polymerizing 100-20wt.% (meth)acrylic acid deriv. of formula I (wherein R, R' and R'' are each H or methyl; X is O, NH or formula II; M is H, Li, Na, K or an ammonium salt; n is 1-3), 0-60wt.% 1-12C alkyl (meth)acrylate and 0-20wt.% salt of (meth)acrylic acid and 0.005-0.01 pt.wt. di- or tri-valent cation-contg. electrolyte under the condition where the ratio of the monomer to water is 1/1-1/20.
