Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a nonwoven fabric useful for producing a wiper for an industrial or other usage, for example, for absorbing water and/or oil, or the like.
CONSTITUTION: In this nonwoven fabric, fibers are not mutually bonded nor fused. This is produced by a process comprising steps of (a) providing a nonwoven web; (b) providing a nip roller arrangement including the first roller 6 and the second roller 8, and (c) passing the web through the nip roller arrangement to form plural raised surface areas 3 on the web with each of the surface areas having apertures 4 in the surface areas, the fibers generally adjacent the apertures being substantially unconsolidated.
