Abstract:

To provide a process for synthesizing asymmetrical (or mixed) organic carbonates that can increase the yield of the product and provide the process for preparation of a non-aqueous organic liquid electrolyte containing asymmetrical linear organic carbonate as a common solvent.

The objective asymmetrical organic carbonate is synthesized through the following steps: (a) the step that the first symmetric carbonate of the general formula: R1COOR1 is prepared; (b) the step that the second symmetric carbonate of the general formula: R2COOR2 is prepared; and (c) the step that the first symmetric carbonate and the second one are mixed in the presence of a catalyst selected from a nucleophilic reagent and an electron- donating reducing agent. In this process, R1 and R2 are preferably selected from saturated alkyl groups or aryl groups.
