Abstract:
To provide a method for determining a charge imposed on a user by an energy utility.SOLUTION: A method includes: receiving, at a server, a total billing amount of a utility bill for a user by an energy utility, a billing period including a start date and an end date for the utility bill, and a zip code of the user; determining an eligible charge based on the received zip code and a customer class; and generating a charge option of an eligible charge. Each combination of the charge option and the eligible charge comprises a charge scenario. The method includes: determining a total cost for the charge scenario for the energy utility based on the start date and the end date of the billing period, and interval data on energy usage; comparing the received total billing amount with the total cost determined for the determined charge scenario; determining, when the determined total cost is within a predetermined range, the charge and charge option of the charge scenario associated with the determined total cost; and storing the determined charge and charge option of the charge scenario for the user in a database system communicatively connected to the server.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
