Title:
SYSTEM FOR OPTICAL NETWORK TEST USING OTDR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3908703
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for testing a plurality of optical fiber lines in telecommunication using OTDR (optical time-domain reflectometry), in particular, a PON (passive optical network) type system therefor.
SOLUTION: This system 10 is provided with the optical fiber lines 13, and a coupler 7 having one input port and a plurality of output ports, and each of the output ports is connected to one of the plurality of optical fiber lines 13. The system 10 is provided with a means 14 for branching the optical fiber lines 13 into the first channel 18 for receiving the first impulse in response to the first test and the second channel 19 for receiving the second impulse in response to the second test. A length of the second channel is longer, by a prescribed overlength 15, than that of the first channel, and the respective overlengths 15 are made different in response to each of the optical fiber lines 13.
