To provide a tailored tube capable of eliminating the instability of a butt welding and also eliminating a sudden change in the material in the axial direction of a pipe, and to provide a method for manufacturing the tailored tube.
This tailored tube is obtained by performing the tailored welding of a plurality of steel plates different in one or both of material and thickness and has at least two tailored weld lines. The first tailored weld line 4 is inclined in the axial direction of the tube, the second tailored weld line 5 is parallel to the axial direction of the tube and the ends of every two tailored weld lines are situated at a tube end 11. In the manufacturing method, the base stock 9 for the steel tube having the first tailored weld line 4 is made by performing the tailored welding of the plurality of the steel plates which are different in one or both of the material and the quality, the base stock 9 for the steel tube is formed into a tubular shape by pressing and roll bending and the steel tube having the second tailored weld line 5 is made by welding butting parts 10.
