To provide a tandish for continuous casting capable of preventing foreign matters such as a fraction of fire resistant materials which drops inside the tandish, at the time of preheating the tandish in the continuous casting device from being pinched in the clearance between the tandish and the stopper or from intruding inside the tandish nozzle.
A tubular protruding portion 15 which protrudes from the upper surface of the bottom wall 14 of the tandish in the outer peripheral portion of a tandish nozzle 6 is provided, and through the tubular protruding portion 15, foreign matters are dammed at the time of pre-heating the tandish, and at the time of receiving steels, while the upper surface of the molten metal reaches the upper end of the tubular protruding portion 15, foreign matters are floated on the surface of the molten metal, which prevents foreign matters from intruding into the clearance between the tandish and the stopper or from intruding inside the nozzle.
