PURPOSE: To automatically execute switching so as to permit a signal outputted through a MUSE/NTSC converter to receive a proper signal processing at an EDTV side even if a MUSE signal or a NTSC signal is received in BS tuner.

CONSTITUTION: The signal inputted to a movement application Y/C separating circuit 12 is inputted to a standard/nonstandard judging circuit 13 at the EDTV side. The output of the movement application Y/C separating circuit 12 is converted into a successive scanning signal in a scanning line converting circuit 14 so as to be inputted to a switching circuit 15. A double speed video signal is inputted from a double speed video signal input terminal 17 to the switching circuit 15. The switching circuit 15 is controlled by a judgment signal from the standard/nonstandard judging circuit 13 and the double speed video signal of the terminal 17 is selected when a nonstandard signal is inputted.
