PURPOSE: To obtain the title material which is easy of heat-templating procedures, excellent in reproducibility and capable of reclamation of a scrapped template, by using trans-polyoctenamer as the principal ingredient.

CONSTITUTION: Cyclooctene obtained by dimerizing butadiene and hydrogenating one of the two remaining double bonds is submitted to metathesis polymerization to give a trans-polyoctenamer having one double bond per 8 carbon atoms, a molecular weight of at least 10,000, a melting point of 25°C or higher, preferably 30W60°C, a glass transition point of -75W-30°C, a trans content of at least 50%, preferably 60% or more, and a crystallinity of at least 10%. The title material is obtained by blending the resultant polymer, if necessary, other resins, rubbers, plasticizers, inorganic fillers, stabilizers, pigments, etc.
