PURPOSE: To obtain the titled fiber having feeling like down, drapeability, heat retaining properties, and bulkiness, by subjecting repeatedly specific crimped tow to relaxation and stretch in the length direction, opening it in an intermeshed gear state, cutting it to a specific length, separating it by compressed air, opening it.
CONSTITUTION: The crimped tow 1 having ≤3 denier of single yarn and ≤0.30 static coefficient of friction between yarn is subjected to heat setting by the heat setting machine 2, fed through the guide rollers 5 to a series of tow transfer rollers 6, 8, and 10, subjected repeatedly relaxation and stretch by a pair of the first opening rollers 7' and 7" set between 6 and 8 to produce variation in tension, opened by a pair of the opening material 9 in an intermeshed gear state set between the rollers 8 and 10, cut to ≤200mm fiber length by the cutter 3, compressed air is blown from the air nozzle 12 to it, so that it is separated and opened to give the desired fiber 4.
