Abstract:
Data processing system (10) comprising means for converting an input signal into an output signal with the aid of a non-linear function formed piecewise. From the input signal, there is determined (20) a plurality of combinations of the input signal with various coefficients. These combinations are then subjected (22) to the action of a simple non-linear function in order to supply several contributions which are then combined linearly (24) in order to supply the output signal. Hence, from combinations output by a simple non-linear function, it is possible to obtain a complex non-linear function. This can be used for the calculation of non-linear activation functions of a neural network. Application: neural networks, non-linear controllers.
