Abstract:
PURPOSE:To extract data faithfully even if there is an irregularity in lighting by binarizing only density data in an area wherein there are data interesting among density data obtained by inverting the density data of an original image according to maximum density. CONSTITUTION:A control part 14 reads one line of character data (1) out of a character data memory 17 and reads a reference image signal (2) corresponding to the one-line character image data (1) out of a reference memory 16 to subtract the one-line character image data (1) from the reference image signal (2), thereby calculating density data (3). Then the control part 14 binarizes the density data into binary data by a specific level to determine the area where there is the data needed. Then the control part 14 inverts the one-line character data (1) about its maximum density, masks this inverted character image data (5) with the data area to leave the area (6), and binarizes the area (6) into binary data by the specific level. Consequently, the data is extracted faithfully.
