PURPOSE: To enable the independent installation and operation of respective strands by binding a melt conduit which has an inflow port corresponding to the outflow port in the bottom of a tundish in the upper part and an open end connecting to the flow passage of the mold in the lower part in one body to the mold.

CONSTITUTION: Molten steel 12 is charged into a tundish 11 while the flow rate thereof is controlled by operating the sliding gate 45 in the bottom of a ladle 10. The molten steel 12 flowing down from the outflow hole 14 in the bottom 13 in the tundish 11 enters the inflow port 44 of a melt conduit 15. The conduit 15 and a mold 16 are integrally oscillated by a driving means 34. The molten steel 12 is conducted to the mold 16 and is cooled. An ingot 41 is drawn with pinch rolls while the same is guided with a guide roll 42. The conduit 15, the mold 16, a moving carriage 19, an oscillation stand 22, an overflow pan 33, the means 34 and the roll 42 etc. are formed as one unit and plural units are provided in the direction perpendicular to the paper surface, by which the horizontal and continuous casting of multiple strands is accomplished.
