Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the magnetic characteristics and wear resistance of the resulting titled amorphous alloy and to increase the crystallizing temp. by providing a specified composition contg. Co, Fe, Ni, Ru or Rh, RE, Si and B.
CONSTITUTION: This amorphous alloy for a magnetic head has a composition represented by the formula (where M is Ru and/or Rh, RE is ≥1 kind of rare earth element, 0.02≤a≤0.25, 0≤b≤0.15, 0.05≤c≤0.20, 0.005≤d≤0.045, 0≤n≤20, 0≤m<16, and 0≤n+m≤30). The alloy is obtd. by mixing the constituent components of said composition in a prescribed ratio, melting the mixture, and rapidly cooling the melt. Sputtering or other method may be applied. The resulting alloy is optionally heat treated.
