Title:
CODE DISCRIMINATING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5852720
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the use efficiency of a memory by providing a special code for the four starting bits of a two-type code system so that a two-byte code system for KANJI (Chinese character) and a one-byte code for characters other than KANJI are discriminated.

CONSTITUTION: For a two-byte KANJI code system, the four starting bits are set to "1111" as a flag, and for a one-byte code system, no flag is set. To discriminate between both the code systems, the starting four bits of the one-byte code system are not set to "1111", so codes for 240 characters are assigned.
