PURPOSE: To realize common use of a large cassette and a small cassette, by conforming the center of reel of the cassette discriminated by a cassette discriminating means to the center of driving disk the reel by moving the reel driving disk.
CONSTITUTION: A cassette casing is loaded to the main body of a magnetic recorder/reproducer when the cassette casing contains a small cassette 1. In such case, a cassette discrimination switch (A)46 is closed with a cassette discrimination swich (B)48 opened. As a result, it is discriminated that the cassette 1 is loaded. Then a motor 43 turns, and a pulley 40 loosens the reel shifting wires 37a and 37b. At the same time, the springs 33a and 33b move the reel drive disks 6a and 6b so as to conform the centers of the disks 6a and 6b to the centers of the minor reels 2a and 2b respectively. The end of the shift of the disks 6a and 6b is detected by the switches 47a and 47b. Thus the operation of the motor 43 is stopped, and the disks 6a and 6b engage the reels 2a and 2b respectively.
