PURPOSE: To obtain a picture extremely reduced at its ghost components by synthesizing a high frequency component extracting signal in a luminance signal and a signal reversed at its polarity against the extracted signal and having a different DC level through a gain control circuit to obtain a ghost-removed signal.
CONSTITUTION: A signal B removed at its ghost by an ordinary method is applied to a synthesizing circuit 16 and a color signal removing circuit 17. A color signal is removed from the signal B by the circuit 17 to obtain a luminance signal and a high frequency component extracted from the luminance signal by a high frequency extracting circuit 18 is applied to a gain control signal generating circuit 19 to obtain a control signal reversed at its polarity and having a different DC level. The output of the circuit 18 is also applied to a gain control circuit. The circuit 20 is controlled by two signals outputted from the circuit 19 and generates an output signal. When the outputs signal is supplied to the other input of the synthesizing circuit 16, the output of the circuit 16 is supplied to the succeeding stage as a signal reduced at it unremoved ghost component, so that a picture extremely reduced at its ghost component is extracted.
