PURPOSE: To detect and correct the inversion between the order of traveling vehicles and communication order.
CONSTITUTION: The entry of a vehicle 2 is detected with signals of optical sensors 1 and 3 and a step plate 4, the vehicle number on the license plate is detected through a camera device 6 and an image processor 7, and a vehicle kind discriminating and control part 5 discriminates the vehicle kind with those signals and sends it to a lane control part 14, which stores it in a memory. An antenna control part 10 controls a roadside antenna 8 to read vehicle kind information out of an on-vehicle machine 15 in a communication area 9 and sends it to the lane control part 14, which stores in another memory. Those signals are compared by the lane control part 14 to detect and correct the inversion between the travel order and communication order. A start signal lamp 11, a crossing gate 12, and a start detecting device 13 are controlled by a control part 14 and toll reception information is sent to an external terminal with a signal 16.
