Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve machining characteristics of carbon-based high hardness material including machining speed and machining quality by utilizing a carbon diffusion reaction between diamond and ferrous materials.SOLUTION: A tool electrode 20 for electric discharge machining is made of a ferrous material composed of, for example nickel, and an alloy, for example cupronickel, including a substance for imparting conductivity, for example copper, and the electrode is rotated for electric discharge machining of PCD-containing carbon-based high hardness material (PCD machining object 10).
