PURPOSE: To make possible stabilized track jump by adding an average value of a speed control error voltage and a brake voltage during the braking period in order to generate an error-corrected brake voltage and then supply this signal to an optical beam moving means.
CONSTITUTION: When the number of tracks to be crossed is indicate on a track jump sequencer 5 from a CPU, a pulse width measuring device 16 outputs a positive voltage when a data output from a binalization circuit 9 is larger than the value obtained from the target frequency or a negative voltage when the former value is smaller than the latter value. A period or frequency voltage converting circuit 6 inputs an output voltage of the measuring device 16 to output a period or frequency error. As the output of the circuit 6, the average value is computed in an average value arithmetic circuit 8 and it is then supplied with addition of a brake volatage in the adder 17 to a track actuator 3 through the switches S1, S2. Thereby, variability of brake performance of the pickup due to a torque force can be reduced and the pickup having the constitution that an objective lens is supported by an elastic material can be stably operated.
