Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a LAN or a terminal which disables communication occurring, when plural LANs supervise congestion in the case that the communication terminal connected to a low-speed transmission line makes communication with a high-speed transmission line, in a communication system where the high-speed transmission line and the low-speed transmission line are interconnected.
SOLUTION: This invention provides a traffic controller, that is installed between a LAN and a backbone and controls traffic of packet communication conducted by each communication terminal via a backbone network, is provided with a buffer storing a packet signal by each communication terminal, a memory that is used to set a time T, a data quantity α outputted from the buffer, and an upper limit speed, and repeatedly controls each of the buffers corresponding to the communication terminals, such that the buffer will not output a packet signal, when the output of the buffer requires an upper speed limit or higher at a time T and outputs a data quantity which does not exceed the quantity α, when the output from the buffer is less than the upper speed limit.
