Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide transfer device capable of removing the soiling of a mark to be detected without providing a cleaning means newly. SOLUTION: The range of the contact of a belt discharge brush 513 with an intermediate transfer belt 501 (the width Wb of the belt discharge brush 513 in a direction orthogonal to the direction of the rotation of the intermediate transfer belt 501) is set to the width in which the brush contacts a range including the area of the detected mark 519 on the intermediate transfer belt 501. Thus, by the sliding of the belt discharge brush 513 against the detected mark 519 during the movement of the intermediate transfer belt 501, soil such as scattered toner sticking to the detected mark 519 is removed.
