Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve deceleration performance by solving problems in a current clutch pack brake.
SOLUTION: A transmission has a central control unit (CPU) for controlling the braking energy of a truck by sharing energy dissipation between a plurality of clutch packs. After lowering the engine speed, the CPU slips two clutch packs at the same time to maintain the decelerated revolving speed for a torque converter. The transmission system also reduces an energy loss during the high draw bar pull conditions. Engine speed is modulated to trim energy peaks when travelling at a low pushing or pulling speed. The generation of heat in the torque converter is reduced, and the lost pushing force or pulling forces are restored by an additional transmission gear reduction.
