To obtain the subject new compound useful as an active ingredient for insecticides and miticides and the like.

This new compound is expressed by formula I (R1 is a halogen; R2 is a lower alkyl), e.g. 2-methoxycarbonyl-4-chlorotrifluoromethanesulfinanilide. The compound of formula I is obtained by reaction of an aniline compound of formula II with e.g. trifluoromethanesulfinyl chloride in a solvent such as n-hexane in the presence of a base such as pyridine at -20°C to the boiling point of the solvent.
